VCCC Alliance Leadership Academy Series
18 March 2025
Join Associate Professor Vivienne Mak as she explores how healthcare education fosters the skills needed for teamwork and collaboration. Learn how breaking silos is critical to improving patient care in an increasingly complex healthcare landscape.
From chronic disease management to workforce burnout, the ability to work across disciplines is essential. The session will highlight how interprofessional education (IPE) supports current and future professionals to develop essential skills in interprofessional communication, collaborative leadership, and systems improvement, ensuring they are collaborative practice ready.
Examples will include how simulation-based learning prepares graduates to work collaboratively, break down silos, apply systems thinking, and lead change in healthcare. Drawing on both professional expertise and personal experience, A/Prof Vivienne Mak will also reflect on the impact of team-based, patient-centred care and the role of education in shaping future healthcare teams.
