Katie Smith
Nurse Unit Manager, Day Cancer Centre, Royal Children's Hospital
Katie Smith is the Nurse Unit Manager of the Day Cancer Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital, leading a specialised team that delivers complex paediatric oncology care in a high‑acuity ambulatory setting. As a statewide and national referral centre, the Day Cancer Centre provides treatments uniquely available at the Royal Children’s Hospital, drawing patients from metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria, and interstate. Katie brings over 25 years of paediatric nursing experience across Australia and the United Kingdom.
In addition to her RCH role, Katie is the Statewide Project Lead for the Victorian Paediatric Clinical Network (VPCN) and Deputy Chair of the ANZCHOG Nursing Committee. Through these positions she drives collaborative improvement across the paediatric sector, strengthening consistency of care and reducing clinical variation.
Katie currently leads the Paediatric Sepsis Recognition Tool Pilot, a statewide initiative aimed at improving early sepsis identification and timely escalation. She works closely with clinicians and health service partners across the state and country to evaluate outcomes and refine pathways that enhance safety and clinical decision‑making.
With a background in paediatric oncology, emergency nursing, and service development, Katie is committed to building capability, modernising models of care, and championing initiatives that support safer, more coordinated, and more equitable healthcare for children and their families.

Mr Robbie Greenwell

Robbie is an acting graduate from Flinders Drama Centre in Adelaide, South Australia, with experience in theatre, film, and the education sector. With nine years of experience in Camp Quality's education programs, Robbie is responsible for the scoping, development and implementation of key educational projects and initiatives, focusing on increasing support and raising awareness for children and families facing cancer.
Mr Damian Ragusa
General Manager, Services and Programs,
Camp Quality Cancer Education Program
Damian Ragusa leads the delivery and development of programs and services supporting children and families impacted by cancer. He has over 10 years’ experience in the community recreation sector, with expertise in organisational strategy, product and program development, and strategic leadership. Damian is known for his collaborative leadership, stakeholder management and focus on creating inclusive, high-impact services that strengthen communities.
