Integrating Blood Cancer Genomics into Clinical Decision-Making
Real-world implementation of blood cancer genomics into clinical practice
This symposium brought together haematologists, pathologists and scientists to discuss the recent advances in blood cancer genomic and their translation into routine clinical practice. Now you can view the online recordings of this event. In addition to scientific and clinical developments, the program considered broader system-level issues, including real-world implementation, equity of access and the challenges of delivering genomic-informed care to patients in rural and remote settings, including First Nations communities. The symposium aimed to support the effective and equitable integration of genomics into routine blood cancer care by strengthening clinical capability, multidisciplinary practice and national collaboration across Australia.
Objectives
- Build clinician understanding of current and emerging genomic approaches in the diagnosis and management of haematological malignancies.
- Demonstrate how genomic information can be applied in real-world clinical decision-making through case-based and multidisciplinary examples.
- Explore key challenges and enablers to embedding genomics in clinical practice, including workforce, access and system considerations.
- Showcase innovative models of care and research that support genomics-informed blood cancer care across Australia.
- Foster cross-disciplinary and cross-jurisdictional dialogue to support consistent, high-quality genomic practice.
Event intended outcomes
- Increased clinician confidence and capability in using genomic information to inform blood cancer care.
- Stronger multidisciplinary integration of genomics within clinical pathways and decision-making processes.
- Improved awareness and uptake of appropriate genomic referral pathways, services and research opportunities.
- Enhanced collaboration between clinicians, researchers and services, supporting shared learning and scalability.
- Clear, actionable next steps identified by participants to embed genomics into practice within their local context.
Audience: Health professionals and system leaders involved in the care of people with haematological malignancies.
Time: 6 Hours, each section has been broken into smaller sections for you to be able to return at anytime.
