The LGBTIQA+ community faces unique health challenges, even more so with cancer care. River Watson discusses some of these challenges and how clinicians can respectfully engage with the community.
As we strive to create a more inclusive and equitable health care system, health professionals need to be aware of the unique health challenges faced by the LGBTIQA+ community.
This webinar discusses these challenges, provide examples, and define steps to help clinicians engage the community in a more meaningful, respectful way.
Presenter: River Watson
River Watson, who is queer and agender, has been nursing for over 10 years spending the majority of their time working within the Royal Melbourne Emergency Department, also experienced in general medicine and mental health. They currently work for the Parkville Electronic Medical Record (EMR) team where they began as the diversity and inclusion project principal trainer. A member of LGBTIQA+ advisory groups at various hospitals, they are passionate about providing education about the LGBTIQA+ community and committed to creating more inclusive healthcare spaces

Michelle O'Sullivan has been a consumer representative for the VCCC Alliance since 2017. She works in leadership and coaching consulting and has lived experience of breast cancer.
