Overview
Cancer survivorship focuses on the health and wellbeing of a person living with and beyond cancer. An individual is considered a cancer survivor from the time of diagnosis through the rest of their life. Health professionals play an important role in recognising and managing issues and unmet needs of cancer survivors and connecting them with appropriate supportive services.

Learning outcomes
By the end of this rapid learning you will be able to:

  • Define the term cancer survivor
  • Identify your role in supporting cancer survivors including key resources to refer survivors to
  • Describe the importance of healthy lifestyle behaviours in improving quality of life
  • Outline the importance of survivorship care plans and engaging primary care in survivorship care.

Development acknowledgement
This rapid learning was developed in collaboration with the Australian Cancer Survivorship Centre, based at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and eviQ.
