Results of a recent Cochrane review on preoperative exercise training, led by Professor Catherine Granger, have demonstrated that there is now high-certainty evidence that preoperative exercise training results in a 55% reduction in the risk of patients developing a post-operative complication after lung cancer surgery.

This means that one more patient will be saved from a post-operative complication for every five patients receiving pre-operative exercise.

The review also found that preoperative exercise may also reduce postoperative length of hospital stay and improve exercise capacity and lung function in this population.

These discoveries call for pre-operative exercise to be implemented into global practice. In this webinar, Prof Granger discusses the findings and potential next steps towards improving patient access to this treatment globally.
