RECAP Journal Club: Out with Cancer Study

Rural Evidence, Collaboration and Practice

We’re excited to welcome Dr Rosalie Power from Western Sydney University, who will lead a discussion on one of the studies from the Out with Cancer research project—examined through a rural lens. Facilitated by Arrin Wislang, Manager for Clinical Services at South Australia Health, this session promises a powerful and thought-provoking conversation exploring LGBTQIA+ cancer care, with a particular focus on rural health contexts.

By attending this journal club session, participants will strengthen their skills in critically appraising research and applying evidence to practice, with a focus on the unique contexts of rural cancer care. These sessions are designed for rural health professionals to come together and engage with the latest research in cancer care, fostering reflective discussion, knowledge sharing, and professional development. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of inclusive cancer care for LGBTQIA+ communities and practical insights for improving equity in rural health settings. The RECAP Journal Club is a quarterly initiative supported by the Cancer Patient Support Program (CPSP) Grant, designed to spark critical discussion and build connections across rural cancer care practice and research.
