The early diagnosis, referral and treatment of patients with oral or oropharyngeal cancers can save lives. Early interventions can also improve speech and swallowing function and may help reduce disfigurement as well as all its associated physical and psychological consequences.

  • Basic principles, surgical management and how primary care can assist

Primary care has a key role to play in achieving optimal outcomes for people with oral and oropharyngeal cancers.  This session will assist primary care practitioners to feel confident about when to treat and when to refer, and improve the coordination of care between healthcare professionals to optimise outcomes.
