Desmoid tumours are non-cancerous growths occurring in connective tissues. Our panel of sarcoma experts explore the complexities surrounding management of these tumours.

A/Prof Jeremy Lewin is a medical oncologist by training, and his areas of expertise include Sarcoma and Genitourinary malignancies. He provides medical leadership for the service which delivers quality care for young people, a statewide professional education program and targeted clinical research aimed at addressing the major health concerns of young people and their families. He holds leadership and strategic positions both locally and nationally, including being the Research and Education lead for sarcoma for the VCCC Alliance, Medical Oncology Sarcoma Lead at Peter Mac. He is also part of the Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine Committee for the Royal Australian College of Physicians and the Scientific Advisory Committee for the Australia and New Zealand Sarcoma Association.

Dr Susie Bae
Medical Oncologist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Eastern Health
Dr Bae is a medical oncologist with subspecialty interests in sarcoma and breast cancer. She is also a Fellow for the Australia and New Zealand Sarcoma Association (ANZSA). Dr Bae is the national lead in overseeing the Australian Sarcoma Database, which collects comprehensive sarcoma datasets from six adult sarcoma services around Australia.
Dr Julie Chu
Radiation Oncologist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre
Dr Chu is a radiation oncologist at the Division of Radiation Oncology and Cancer Imaging at Peter Mac.Her clinical research interests include upper and lower gastrointestinal cancers, soft tissue sarcoma and stereotactic radiotherapy.
A/Prof David Gyorki
Research & Education Lead, Melanoma and Skin Cancers, VCCC Alliance; Surgical Oncologist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre; Principal Fellow, Department of Surgery, the University of Melbourne
In his position as VCCC Alliance Research and Education Lead, A/Prof Gyorki brings together multiple disciplines, organisations and perspectives to produce solid outcomes in melanoma and high priority non-melanoma skin cancer. He completed his education and training at the University of Melbourne and St Vincent’s Hospital, and an MD degree at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. He has also completed a clinical fellowship in complex surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. A/Prof Gyorki previously held the Herman Fellowship in Clinical Cancer Research at the University of Melbourne and currently holds a Peter MacCallum Clinician Researcher Fellowship.
